While shopping around for parts, I found some that I want but am too scared to install for various reasons. It may be practicality, lackof skills or something else. But here are the modifications I want, but am too scared to install.
Verus Hood Louvers
I want these badly. I love the look of them and that is all the motivation I need to get them. But I’m scared to for two big reasons.
First, I am terrified to cut into my hood. I’m not trained in body work and I don’t trust myself to make clean cuts in the right place.
Second, my car lives outside and while they do sell rain guards for them they direct the water to a safe place, I just fee like I’m inviting trouble.

A Big Wing (Wang?)

I’m a sucker for a big wing on a small car and the ND’s body wears them very well. Maybe the one in the picture is bigger than I’d want but hopefully you get the idea.
I currently just have the OEM Club spoiler on the back and while it looks good, there is something about looking in the rearview and seeing a big wing that I like. Unfortunately my car isn’t fast enough to back that up yet and I don’t want every boy racer trying to line ’em up every time I drive the car.

Coilover Suspension
Considering I just installed new shocks and springs, I don’t feel the need to upgrade yet. However a coilover setup is one I would be afraid to run everyday.
I would constantly feel the need to adjust them. I’m the type that would look at the car and imagine I’m seeing it not sitting level and would stress over making the smallest height adjustments. For me having that level of adjustability would take the enjoyment away as I would always think I could “tell” it needed adjustment.

Those three are the biggest ones that I don’t know if I will ever have on my car, well maybe the hood vents could make it. My hood has light hail damage that is nearly invisible unless the lightning is juuuuuuuust right. But I know it’s there and have been on the lookout for a Ceramic Metallic hood locally. If I ever find one then I could practice on my current hood. That might make it a little easier to stomach.
I’m actually at a point where I have the vents and rain guards sitting in my “cart” at Flyin’ Miata. The suspension I can live without because I love my current setup and the urge for a big wing comes and goes. Although lately the urge has been strong but that may just be due to all the prep I’m doing for Miatas at the Gap. Still the urge for hood vents has never waivered. I just need to buy the right cutting tool and somehow get enough courage to permanently modify my hood. Maybe one day. Maybe one day soon as my trip to the Gap becomes closer.
